We will consider the immediate aftermath of the destruction at the World Trade Center and the subsequent controversy over clearing and rebuilding the site. We will also study the effect 9-11 has had on emergency services in New York City and on civil society, generally. Students will intern with the New York Police Department, local emergency response centers, city planners, community boards in lower Manhattan, charitable organizations, and the Lower Manhattan Development Board among other governmental and non-governmental organizations.
