Metadata and Cataloging Assistant

The Metadata and Cataloging Assistant is responsible for cataloging Special Collection materials using the MARC format, OCLC, and the Library's Voyager integrated library system. In addition, this position is responsible for creating metadata for Special Collections images and documents using Dublin Core in CONTENTdm.
This is a temporary, 30 hour per week position beginning approximately July 2012 - June 2014.
Bachelor's degree required; coursework in library, information science and/or digital projects preferred.
Experience working with automated systems such as OCLC, CONTENTdm, and Voyager required, descriptive and subject cataloging using the MARC format, the Anglo American Cataloging Rules (2nd ed. Rev.), and the Library of Congress subject heading and classification schemes required. Experience with the use of one or more metadata schema such as Dublin Core and digitization projects preferred.
