Volunteer Opportunities for Parents

Career Center Informational Interviews
Purpose: Provide students with general information about your industry
Location: Your office
Time frame: Varies depending on student interest
Time commitment: 30-60 minutes per interview

Career-Related Internships
Purpose: Provide short-term, paid or unpaid career-related experience to students
Location: Varies – NYC, Boston, and Washington are most interesting to students
Time frame: Varies – generally summer, but also during the school year for students on Washington and NYC programs.
Time commitment: Varies

On-Campus Recruiting
Purpose: Recruit new employees
Location: Hamilton
Time frame: Varies depending on recruiting cycle
Time commitment: Generally one day

On-Campus Info Sessions
Purpose: Provide students with general information about your industry. Usually part of a coffee hour or brown bag lunch.
Location: Hamilton
Time frame: Varies – can be scheduled around your planned trips to campus.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours

On-Campus Events
Purpose: Assist with events including Family Weekend, Fallcoming, and Reunions by greeting registrants, helping at tailgates, etc. Also provide feedback on events as requested.
Location: Hamilton
Time frame: Varies depending on event
Time commitment: 1 weekend

Parents Fund
Purpose: Solicit other families for gifts to the Parents Fund.
Location: Telephone calls from your home or office
Time frame: October/November and March/April
Time commitment: 5-10 calls; 1-2 hours

Promoting Campus Diversity
Purpose: Welcome families to the Hamilton community and help ensure a successful experience for the students, both on campus and beyond.
Location: Hamilton
Time frame: Varies; generally March/April.
Time commitment: 1-2 hours

Regional Events
Purpose: Host events for parents, alumni, and/or incoming students at your home, office, or club. Event size ranges from small dinner to large reception.
Location: Across the US and in several international cities.
Time frame: Varies depending on College travel calendar.
Time commitment: 3-4 hours

Welcome Calls
Purpose: Welcome new families to Hamilton
Location: Telephone calls from your home or office
Time frame: June-August
Time commitment: 10-15 calls; 1-2 hours
