Courses comprising the regular terms have been organized especially for the Hamilton College Academic Year in Spain. They are taught by faculty of Spanish universities or by other authorities in literature, history and the arts. All classes at the Center are small (12 or fewer students). Students also have the opportunity to enroll directly in the Madrid University system. In addition, a number of business and social work internships are open to HCAYS participants. Students are encouraged to take courses that will complement and expand the current offerings at their home institutions.
Each course (with the exception of Advanced Spanish Language) meets three hours a week. All courses are taught entirely in Spanish. For full-year students there are two final examination periods, one at the end of the first term in December and one in May at the end of the academic year. In addition, shorter examinations, papers and reports may be scheduled during the year.
