Statement of Community Values
Thanks to all of the committee members who helped write this statement throughout the semester
This statement was in response to community concern about the general campus climate
Targeting incoming freshmen would be a good place to start to change the climate
If enough of the student body votes for the statement in the December all-campus election as a referendum, it would be sent out to incoming freshmen on a card similar to the Honor Pledge card, but would not require a signature
A Community Forum will be held this Friday, November 13th from 12:00-1:30 in the Chapel
The topic will be the Statement of Community Values and will provide an additional opportunity for feedback, questions, comments, and concerns from the community
The strength of a message like this comes from the fact that the message is from the students
Click here to see a draft of the statement. Please email sa@hamilton.edu with feedback or attend the Community Forum on Friday
Suggestions were made during Student Assembly regarding word choice and the title, and those will be taken into account along with other feedback received throughout the week
