Student & Alumni Initiatives

Student Initiatives

Class of 2008 Environmental Endowment Fund

Money raised as part of the Senior Class Gift will provide grants to better the Hamilton community through environmental work or green research.

Hamilton's Environmental Action Group (HEAG)

This student-run group focuses on environmental awareness through campus cleanups, recycling and special programs with guest speakers, including Green Week.

The Recycling Task Force

This student-run group works closely with the Physical Plant and the student body to improve Hamilton's recycling program and evaluate additional recycling strategies.

The group also promotes Hamilton's participation in the annual RecycleMania contest, which is organized and operated by college and university recycling program coordinators and supported by the US EPA's WasteWise program. In 2005, Hamilton finished 12th in the national RecycleMania contest.

Alumni Initiatives

This alumnus provided a $150,000 pledge for a new faculty position in environmental economics and a longitudinal survey to assess values and attitudes affecting sustainability.
