Description: In the vision of its founders in 1812, the education of Hamilton College students was to be systematic, invariable and unchanging. Nevertheless dramatic changes came to the Hill affecting the curriculum, admission, social life and identity. Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History and author of On the Hill: A Bicentennial History of Hamilton College, will discuss the contest between the forces of change and continuity in Hamilton’s second century.
