The Hamilton College Academic Resource Centers (ARCs) play an integral role in your education by providing peer tutoring to support your growth in your classes and co-curricular endeavors.

We encourage you to review the expectations below before your first visit to an ARC.

We expect you to…
  • Understand that different ARCs offer different services and modes of tutoring.

  • Make appointments that you know you can keep; avoid times you are scheduled to be in class or at work. Provide accurate and complete information about the reason for your visit.
  • Show up on time, in person, with appropriate materials and ready to work. All appointments begin at the start time listed; you should not arrive late.
  • Notify the center (not the tutor!) if you cannot make the appointment, giving as much advance notice as possible. If you miss multiple appointments, you will be unable to schedule until speaking with an ARC Director.
  • Follow all guidelines of the ARC regarding sending materials in advance. Your appointment confirmation email provides details about what you need to do.
  • Be an active participant in your tutoring appointments.
  • Be respectful of our staff, other students, and the space.
  • Uphold the Hamilton Honor Code, including knowing how it applies to your specific courses. Students are responsible for sharing and abiding by such policies.
In turn, you can expect our staff to…
  • Be present and ready to work with you for the duration of your appointment.
  • Adapt each session to the particular needs of the student(s) they are helping.
  • Meet ethical standards of tutoring, including maintaining confidentiality and following the Hamilton Honor Code.
  • Treat all people with respect.
  • Maintain complete records of visits and communicate with faculty and administrators (when appropriate) about your use of the ARCs.
