Barbara Britt-Hysell has worked with Hamilton students in the past as a writing tutor and ESL tutor. She also designed a program to incorporate the multilingual and multicultural students into the campus community through cultural forums and social activities. Their voices can be heard through the Spectator column and WHCL radio show, From where I sit. Britt earned a TEFL certificate from The Boston Language Institute. She received her BA in English with an education minor from Framingham State College, and she has extensive experience as an teacher, tutor. mentor, and consultant in both public and private education.

In the fall, Britt teaches the writing intensive ESOL Fundamentals of Compositon course (MWF: 9-9:50 AM) to first year students.
She will also be teaching the quarter credit 240 course, Methods of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, which prepares students to perform as ESOL tutors. In the spring, Britt will teach a full credit 340 course, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, which addresses the general principles of language acquisition and pedagogy for teaching ESOL to non-native speakers as a second or foreign language.  Both courses offer ceritificates of completion.
