Chinese 600/610: Advanced Chinese Discussions and Presentations I/II.

Chinese 600: Advanced Chinese Discussions and Presentations I. 
The course is designed for K-12 Chinese teachers to further their ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese in three communicative modes: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational.  Specifically, participants will engage in lectures, drills, small group discussions, and individual tutorial sessions to enable them to comprehend and produce advanced Mandarin Chinese, 3 hours daily and 5 days per week.  Prerequisites: Chinese 300 or above, or permission of the instructor.

Chinese 610: Advanced Chinese Discussions and Presentations II.
This course is designed for K-12 Chinese teachers to further improve their ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese in three communicative modes: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational.  Specifically, participants will engage in lectures, small group discussions, formal presentations, and individual tutorial sessions to enable them to comprehend, and produce advanced Mandarin Chinese, 3 hours daily and 5 days per week.  Prerequisites: Chinese 500 or above, or permission of the instructor.

Note: Participants can only be placed in either 600 or 610 depending on their proficiency.  They cannot enroll in both courses. 

Chinese 650 CFL Pedagogical Theories and Best Practices

Lectures and workshops focusing on various aspects of teaching Chinese as a foreign language (CFL) through group discussions, papers, and presentations about curriculum, instruction, material development, and assessment of CFL instruction.  Prerequisites, Chinese 300 or above, or permission of the instructor.
