Hamilton College considers siblings enrolled in the first four years of their first full-time undergraduate degree program as a factor when determining financial need.

Hamilton College does not consider siblings beyond four years of undergraduate study, in graduate study, a second undergraduate program, enrolled less than full-time, enrolled in a military academy, or parents enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program as a factor.

If a family has one child in college, their expected family contribution (EFC) will be the amount the family is responsible for contributing toward their child’s education that year. If that same family has two children attending college, the parent contribution portion of their EFC will likely be significantly reduced. Once a sibling is no longer considered to be enrolled in college, such as an older sibling who completes an undergraduate degree program, the parent contribution portion of the student’s EFC will likely increase.
