Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, health care has remained in the minds of many Americans and news outlets, who wonder and speculate about its future. Yet, the conversation is often centered around legislation and healthcare providers, leaving much important work unnoticed. This summer, four Hamilton graduates, Sam Sherman ’15, Taylor Brandin ’15, Alicia Rost ’15 and Kurt Minges ’15, will be joining Towers Watson, an “American global professional services firm,” as Health and Group benefits analysts.

Although archaeology is often associated with dinosaur fossils and sarcophagi, museums only hold a small portion of the artifacts unearthed over the past few centuries. For Max Lopez ’15, who’s currently working as a teaching assistant at a summer field school in British Columbia, “it’s the day-to-day kind of stuff that really gets [him] going, the smaller stuff that tells a story everyone can relate to.” It is these types of discoveries he hopes to make, leading him to pursue a Masters of Archaeology at Cambridge University beginning in the fall.

While many recent graduates interested in an MBA take a few years to gain some professional work experience, Sabrina Yurkofsky ’15 is moving straight on from graduation to pursue a degree from NYU’s Stern School of Business, where she will be concentrating in entertainment, media and technology.

Multibillion dollar companies often receive bad publicity for exploiting workers, polluting the environment, and intentionally misleading the public; as such, corporate social responsibility has been called into question. To be certain, not all such companies are guilty of this, and perhaps there is no better example of a company that “embodies social responsibility” as much as Google, at least according to Jose Vazquez ’15.

One of the chief benefits of a liberal arts education, and of Hamilton’s open curriculum in particular, is the opportunity that it affords students to experiment academically and to discover their passions. So it was with Sean Henry-Smith ’15, a student who until the second semester of his first year at Hamilton had never picked up a camera, and who now just graduated from Hamilton with a paid internship at the Light Work center in Syracuse, N.Y.

Hamilton students are known for their leadership potential, whether in the classroom, on the field, or in the organizations they manage. Like many graduates, government major Jake London ’14 is translating the leadership skills he learned at the College into a promising career path. After starting early this summer London is serving as campaign manager for New Hampshire state senate candidate Chris Muns, hitting the ground running as he explores a long-term career in political organizing.

Max Schnidman’s ’14 academic and extracurricular pursuits during his Hamilton tenure demonstrate a fascination with economic research: he participated in the annual Fed Challenge; he interned for the Department of State's Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs as part of Hamilton’s Washington D.C. Program; and finally, he culminated his academic career by writing senior theses on the philosophy of economics and another on the economics of happiness. Fittingly, Schnidman will join the Research Fellows Program at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to work as an economic assistant this August.

As a double concentrator in theatre and comparative literature, Lauren Lanzotti ’14 was a committed student, but her college experience involved much more than in-classroom study. Her four years at Hamilton helped her discover new passions, develop valuable skills, and launch an exciting career in the theater production business.  Lanzotti will work as a new product sales representative at Rosco Laboratories, a theatrical supply company based in Stamford, Conn.

Jessica Moulite ’14 has always been interested in journalism. She’s drawn to the concept of using media as a platform to contact and connect a group of people. In the fall, Moulite is one step closer to her dream as she enrolls in the University of Southern California’s prestigious Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

Felipe Garcia’s interest in animals took a more serious turn as he prepared to begin college.  Garcia has long been passionate about animals, spending his summers working at Jungle Island, an interactive zoo located in Miami, Fla. During the summers of his sophomore and junior years at Hamilton Garcia attended the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary Medicine Program for undergraduates.
