Because Hamilton Remembers
Charles Kevin “Sprout” Jones '02
Aug. 21, 2020
Charles Kevin “Sprout” Jones ’02, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was a deeply loved son, brother, uncle, and friend, according to a published obituary. He died on Aug. 21, 2020, at age 41, after being struck by a train.
At Hamilton, Jones majored in philosophy. One of his professors, Todd Franklin, remembers him as “a shy intellectual who was very curious about philosophy at the conceptual level, but very committed to figuring out ways in which various concepts and ideas truly matter in the day-to-day lives of people struggling on the margins.”
That sentiment was echoed by a classmate, Selena Coppock ’02, who shared, “Charles was such a sweet guy. Sophomore year when I lived [in South] … Charles would come over and hang out in our quad, and he was such a kind, sweet guy. Very soft-spoken, but lovely.”
Survivors include his mother Beverly Jones. No further information is available.
