Harrison Griffin Dawes '34

Harrison Griffin Dawes ’34, a retired Methodist minister, was born on December 9, 1910, into a farm family in Kirkland, NY, near College Hill. His parents were Richard T. and Clara Griffin Dawes. He entered Hamilton in the fall of 1930 and remained at the College for a semester.
United in marriage to Donnis V. Horine in 1933, Harrison Dawes was graduated from Morningside College in Iowa in 1937 and from Garrett Theological Seminary in 1943. He served as pastor of several United Methodist churches in Iowa until his retirement in 1976. He also served as dean of several camps of the Okoboji United Methodist Campground.
Harrison G. Dawes died on January 25, 2005, in Grinnell, IA, at the age of 94. In addition to his wife of 71 years, he is survived by two sons, Gilbert and Delbert Dawes, and seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
