Volunteer for Hamilton

Class Agent Program

Class Agents play a vital role in the life of the College by reaching out to their peers to ask for support of the Hamilton’s Annual Fund. Those gifts enable Hamilton to provide scholarship aid, support for faculty members and their programs, and numerous activities throughout the academic year. Class agents also work with staff to communicate the news and needs of the College effectively with classmates, and gather and relay alumni news to the College.

Class agents enjoy many benefits from their volunteer work for the College. They include:

  • Access to volunteer events, roundtable conference calls, and more;
  • Recognition on the Annual Fund website and through Class Participation awards;
  • Ownership over the legacy of your class on the Hill and - during reunion years - reunion planning;
  • An inside view of institutional priorities through personal contact with alumni office staff.

All Class Agents are expected to fully in engage in at least two outreach periods each fund year – one at the end of the calendar year and another at the end of fiscal year. However, Agents are welcome to reach out to their classmates at any point during the year.

During the outreach periods, class agents will:

  • Call, email, message, or text their assignments to encourage them to make a gift;
  • Join a conference call with Class Leadership twice a year to discuss goals and strategy;
  • Function as digital ambassadors on social media during special giving periods, such as the Young Alumni Spring Challenge;
  • Update the volunteer module so that Class Managers are aware which classmates have been contacted and which have not;
  • Thank classmates who have made a gift to the Annual Fund.

Other Requirements and Responsibilities

• Philanthropic support is an important way to demonstrate commitment to the College's mission. As such, Class Agents are expected to lead by example and make a gift to Hamilton according to what their own personal circumstances will allow.
• Assist staff in identifying and soliciting potential donors from your class.
• Of course, the role requires volunteers to respect the confidentiality of alumni giving history.
• Participate in regional and on-campus alumni activities whenever possible.

To serve as a Class Agent for your class, contact Assistant Director, Annual Giving Chris Jacobsen.
