Janelle Schwartz ’97, Hamilton Adirondack Program founder and general director, was honored by Craigardan at the nonprofit educational organization’s recent Dinner in the Field event. She was recognized for her work with the College’s off-campus study option based at The Mountain House in Keene, N.Y. Schwartz is also a member of the Craigardan board.

In an announcement about the honor on the Craigardan website, Schwartz was praised for her “vision and implementation” of the Adirondack Program.

The Adirondack Program provides a semester-long learning experience that combines rigorous academic study with the skills and understanding gained through field experience in the Adirondack Park with local organizations and in wilderness contexts. The program focuses on local, interdisciplinary environmental issues and their global implications.

Located in Keene, N.Y., Craigardan is a community educational center that focuses on the studio, agricultural, culinary, and intellectual arts. It provides a gathering place for creative exploration by offering residencies, community classes, and workshops.
