Morgan Attends MLA Convention

Cheryl Morgan

Professor of French and Francophone Studies Cheryl Morgan recently participated in a roundtable discussion on “The Sociology of French Culture: The Legacy of Priscilla Parkhurst Ferguson” at the Modern Language Association Convention in Seattle.

Panelists presented remarks honoring Ferguson and the significant contribution she made to French studies with her work on urban culture, literature, and gastronomy and food culture. Ferguson, who taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago and at Columbia University, passed way in 2018. Morgan was one of her first doctoral students at Columbia.

Morgan also met with Lizzie Collins ’10 and Alan Yeh ’18. Collins is completing her Ph.D. in French at UCLA; Yeh is a first-year graduate student in French at Berkeley.
