During the past couple of weeks, there has been a rise in the number of successful phishing schemes on campus. We've covered these topics in the past, but the information bears repeating.

Also, as part of Hamilton's Information Security Initiative, ITS, the Committee on Information Technology, and the Information Security Board of Review are working to upgrade the policies, procedures and practices related to protecting confidential and sensitive information contained in our electronic systems. See the "Securing the Human" article below for more information on how you'll learn to protect sensitive information.

If you are looking for a way to organize your photo collection, this month's article by Ryan Coyle details an existing service with a new lease on life.

Securing the Human - Maureen Scoones

Security AwarenessITS recently signed up with a service called the SANS Securing the Human. The SANS (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, Security) Institute is the largest source for information security training and security certification in the world.

Over the next several months, all members of the Hamilton Community will be hearing more about this service and everyone will be required to watch a series of videos aimed to raise awareness about the everyday online threats we face.

The level of sophistication to which phishing emails has risen highlights how much more difficult it is for recipients to differentiate them from real email.
