Hamilton is a member of the American Talent Initiative (ATI), a national alliance of leading colleges and universities that released a new report this week showing it is on track to enroll 50,000 more lower-income students by 2025.

On Because Hamilton Day, Hamilton secured $3,092,733 from 3,658 alumni, parents, students, and friends.

On the eve of the public launch of Because Hamilton, a fundraising campaign to raise $400 million, Hamilton College trustees and friends surprised long-time volunteer Jeff Little by announcing they had committed $1.2 million to create an endowed scholarship in his name.

In a continuing pursuit to clarifying the cost of college to the greatest degree possible, Hamilton is implementing MyinTuition, an online tool that quickly and easily provides accurate college cost estimates.

The College is partnering with QuestBridge, a California-based nonprofit that connects high-achieving, low-income students with highly selective colleges and universities.

Although many students receive some form of financial aid while in college, fewer receive financial literacy education. Last week, Hamilton hosted its first Personal Finance Week to address this discrepancy. The event was organized by a group of senior students, Ramon Villalona, Michael Nelson, Eudocia Montiel, and Flavia Oliveira and was “meant to increase awareness regarding steps that students can take now to secure themselves after graduation or even for retirement,” as Villalona stated.

A New York Times article about a service called College Abacus that provides financial aid information for college-bound students featured Hamilton as a college willing to work with that service to ensure that accurate data would be available.  The Jan. 16 article titled “Concealing the Calculus of Higher Education” included photos of campus as well as of Director of Financial Aid Cameron Feist.

On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at 2 p.m., Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer will join Georgia Institute of Technology Director of Undergraduate Admission Rick Clark and former editor and current editor to The Chronicle of Higher Education Jeff Selingo in a webinar sponsored by the Chronicle titled Navigating the New Admissions Landscape.
