  • Of all the Hamilton programs interrupted by the pandemic, off-campus study was perhaps the most severely affected. However, this semester, students are once again pursuing academic interests far away from the Hill. To understand how Hamilton’s programs are readjusting, we asked Assistant Dean of Off-Campus Study Carolyn North and several students located around the world. Below are some of their thoughts.

  • Having spent a semester studying in Perugia, Italy, Gloribel “Glori” Difo ’20 became so captivated with the city that she decided to take what she saw and learned to create an interdisciplinary senior project: A Walking Tour of Perugia, Italy: Exploring the Building Stones Used in the City’s Construction.

  • After studying at the University of Edinburgh last spring, Allyson D’Antonio ’20 will be returning for her post-graduate studies. She will soon begin work toward her master’s of science degree in history, focusing on English political history during the Early Modern era (1450s to 1750s).

  • Hamilton president David Wippman and Dean of Students Terry Martinez participated in a virtual campus forum with the campus community on Thursday, March 19, to discuss issues related to the College's move to remote instruction for the remainder of the semester.

  • Bryce Fan ’20 intended to study world politics and Chinese before he discovered his passion for writing. Follow Fan’s path to a job he’ll begin after graduation with the political speechwriting firm West Wing Writers.

  • Five Hamilton juniors have been awarded Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships for study abroad during the spring 2020 semester. Recipients are Erin Bryant, Diamond Jackson, Savannah Kelly, Lynn Kim, and Maya Taliaferro.

  • Yuri Choi ’21 is the first Hamilton College recipient of a Fund For Education Abroad scholarship. She will study gender and sexuality in the Netherlands, known for its progressive laws and policies.

  • Among the ranks of far-flung recent Hamilton grads is Oliver Magnusson ’17, who works in the London office of Capco, a management consulting firm for banks. We caught up with him recently to ask a few questions.
