  • A spring meeting with Everson Hull, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States, and Hamilton students planning a service trip to Nevis resulted in yet another meeting and alliance between Alexander Hamilton’s birthplace and the college. During the March visit Hull met with Christian Goodwillie, director and curator of Special Collections and Archives, to review documents from Hamilton’s Beinecke Lesser Antilles Collection related to Nevis.

  • Having lobbied for the retention of Alexander Hamilton’s image on the $10 bill, Hamilton College is pleased with today’s announcement by U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew. The College, which is named for the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury who also served as its first trustee, also supports Secretary Lew’s intent to add illustrious women in U.S. history on the $10 bill and to honor Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.

  • Members of the Global Volunteers organization will be volunteering with non-profit agencies on the Caribbean island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton, from March 19-26.

  • The Hamilton community this week welcomed Everson Hull, ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the Organization of American States, to meet with students and faculty involved with the upcoming spring break service trip to the island of Nevis, birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. The trip will be led by a Hamilton student service organization with support from Amy James and the Community Outreach and Opportunity Project (COOP).

  • In Washington, D.C., for a reception to welcome young Hamilton College alumni to the city, mascot “Alex” took some time to protest the possible removal or reduction of the image of Alexander Hamilton by the U.S. Department of the Treasury on the $10 bill.  His Sept. 16 trip included a visit with Congressman Richard Hanna (R-NY 22nd District) who represents the Clinton  and Oneida County area.

  • Social media was abuzz this summer when Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew announced that Alexander Hamilton’s spot on the $10 bill would be given to a woman. While most agree that women, and other underrepresented groups, should be prominent on our currency, there is a major disagreement on how to make that happen.  Two Hamilton faculty members are among many Hamiltonians who have spoken publicly and for the media on the topic.

  • Hamilton's mascot Alex recently took a big bite out of the Big Apple enroute to Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre where the hit musical Hamilton opens for previews on July 13. Beginning at his home, the Grange, in upper Manhattan, he made his way to the theater via Times Square.
