An intern at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Gabe Linden '20 has spent the past couple months assisting the practice’s orthopedic research manager with various clinical studies.

Every day of her internship, Mary Bei Prince ’20 interacts with Thomas Nast, the nineteenth-century cartoonist who developed visual archetypes such as the Republican elephant, Democratic donkey, Uncle Sam, and Santa Claus.

On day one of his internship in the Dutchess County Public Defender’s Office, his supervisor meted out an unvarnished observation about a law career. “If you like this,” the supervisor told Federico Romero ’22, “this is what you’ll do. If you don’t like it, I’ve had a lot of interns that don’t like it, and they pursue something else.”

Catherine Ryczek ’21 spent her summer in Germany working with Assistant Professor of Physics Kristen Burson and a team of physicists from around the world at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin. During her internship, Ryczek collected and analyzed low energy electron diffraction (LEED) data, a process which enabled her and her fellow researchers to learn more about the structure of materials. She also worked to design and assemble a new ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system to allow for the closer study of thin films.

Louis Dzialo ’19 has known for quite some time what career path he wanted to follow and he’s done everything he can to gain the skills and knowledge to get there. Now the recent graduate has taken the next step toward a future in museum education with an internship at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Ryan Wall ’20 and Jay Carhart ’21 are contributing to Hamilton’s growing culture of environmentalism as summer sustainability interns. In this role, Wall and Carhart are working with Director of Environmental Protection and Safety Brian Hansen on projects ranging from maintaining the many trails around campus, overseeing recycling efforts at weekly community lunches, to improving the reforestation area located on the former golf course.

This summer, Craig Engert ’21 is interning in an office where most people keep toys on their desk, employees can book a conference room to de-stress with board games, and interns test unreleased toys and games on their lunch break.

Eight Hamilton students with career interests in the health professions fields are taking part in a volunteer immersion program for undergraduates through Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y.

This summer, Kenny Letts ’21 is stepping on stage, putting on his dancing shoes, warming up his voice, and teaching others to do the same. He's the lead intern and performance intern for the Broadway Dreams Foundation.

For Natalie Halpin ’21, legal studies and the arts are not mutually exclusive, and in her internship with The Wardrobe Union (Local 764), she demonstrates just that.
