  • With the migration of hundreds of college students off the Hamilton campus, way has been made for a younger, more energetic, crowd. On Wednesday, June 7, and Thursday, June 8, third-graders from Hughes Elementary School, and Clinton Elementary School, respectively, visited the Taylor Science Center. As part of ongoing outreach with local public schools, faculty from the psychology, chemistry, physics, biology and geosciences departments hosted approximately 80 students per day, packing a variety of scientific disciplines into four interactive, 30-minute long seminars.

  • It's become a tradition for Hamilton students to visit nearby Clinton Elementary School to help children there learn Spanish. Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies Edna Rodriguez-Plate launched the volunteer program in 2012.

  • In conjunction with the Community Outreach & Opportunity Project (COOP), eight Hamilton students helped local middle school students improve their Spanish language conversational skills this semester.

  • Poets and performers Sacharja Cunningham ’17 and Shaina Coronel ’17, along with Visiting Assistant Professor of Hispanic Studies Jessica Gordon-Burroughs, facilitated a bilingual spoken word project during the fall semester.

  • In the week preceding Thanksgiving, Hamilton community members gathered to celebrate the holiday together before the College’s week-long break.

  • Faced with choosing between a full-time position in a prestigious global communications marketing firm or work with a non-profit organization, Njideka Ofoleta ’16 went with her gut and took a fellowship with the Newman’s Own Foundation. “I wanted an opportunity to give back for a year,” said Ofoleta, a Posse Foundation Scholar from Miami.
