  • Emma Reynolds ’17 is taking a deeply personal approach to research this summer, exploring the role of geography in the practice of meditation and studying the effects of different landscapes on the female consciousness through a project titled “Rooted in the Ground: A Geographical and Historical Study of the Female Consciousness in Meditation.

  • While many people recognize the value of a college education, not all appreciate the art behind educating. The Hamilton community has been fostering dialogues this year as part of the inaugural Talk About Teaching (TAT) series. Associate Dean of Faculty Penny Yee, who helps coordinate the variety of events, described the purpose of the series as “drawing attention to the practice of teaching at the college.” The events take place across campus, with noontime gatherings almost every Tuesday.

  • In concert with the National Park Service's call to ring “Bells across the Land: A Nation Remembers Appomattox,” the College's Chapel bell will ring for four minutes at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, to mark the four years of war that ended 150 years ago at Appomattox.  One hour later, at 4:15 p.m., a short memorial program will commemorate the role Hamilton students and alumni played in the Civil War, as well as  in the abolitionist movement that preceded the war. This program is free and open to the public.
