  • Associate Vice President for Facilities and Planning Steve Bellona received the 2016 Decade of Excellence award, given by the Mohawk Valley Engineers Executive Council (MVEEC). The award was presented April 28 at the 66th Annual Mohawk Valley Technical Awards Banquet, held at The Beeches in Rome, N.Y.

  • When Hamilton College started measuring its CO2 emissions in 2007, carbon equivalents measured 22,540 metric tons. By 2011, the College had reduced emissions to a total of 17,817 metric tons, surpassing its 2015 Climate Action Plan goal of 18,032 and achieving a 20 percent reduction four years ahead of schedule. In 2010 the College’s emissions totaled 18,323 metric tons.

  • The summer is always a busy time for construction on the Hill. Among many other projects around the campus such as repaired lights and ceilings, coated decks, replaced doors and constructed parking lots, the Sadove Student Center at Emerson Hall is  complete. The crew opened the hall’s doors to the public on July 26. An official dedication will take place during Fallcoming weekend, Oct. 7-10.

  • Hamilton was one of the stops on Utica Monday Nite’s “Get on the Green Wagon Tours” on Monday, July 12. Associate Vice President of Facilities and Planning Steve Bellona led a tour of the LEED Gold-certified Kirner-Johnson Building and discussed the wind, solar and geothermal energy applications throughout the campus.

  • Steven Bellona, associate vice president for facilities and planning, is The Chronicle of Higher Education's "Buildings & Grounds" guest blogger for January. Bellona's first blog, "How to Help Sustainability Survive the Downturn," addressed the most effective way in which to keep sustainability efforts at the forefront despite financial challenges.
