Hamilton is known for the long winters, but for the Hamilton Club Nordic Ski team the snow is the best thing to come back to after winter break. Hamilton’s Nordic team is a member of the Mideast Conference of the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) and regularly competes against club teams in the New York and New England area.

Five Hamilton Nordic skiers headed north on the weekend of Feb. 14-16 to the 35th Gatineau Loppet in Quebec to compete against skiers of all ages from across the world. The group drove more than 240 miles from Clinton, N.Y., to the bustling city of Gatineau, Quebec, just across the river from Ottawa.

While many athletes turn indoors to exercise during the winter months, the Hamilton Nordic Ski team embraces the snow and even the cold. Donning only spandex in sub-zero temperatures, team members joke that the cold only encourages them to ski faster.

Hamilton's Nordic Ski Team is making a name for itself in competitions in the Northeast. Emily Stinson '09 has been instrumental in organizing a team that travels and competes every weekend.
