The 2017 edition of The Best Lawyers in America list named three alumni: Judith D. Levine K’72 , Cora Alsante '85 and John Murad '80. This marks Levine's sixth year and Murad's seventh year on the list.

This summer, Jake Blount ’17 worked at the Augusta Heritage Center, one of the most renowned and successful traditional music and arts education organizations in the nation.

A far-reaching economic policy that impacts countless lives can start with something as small as a grain of rice. Linh Do ’18 is spending her summer working on a research project titled, “Vietnam’s Economy in Transition,” which aims to analyze the effects of the Renovation Policy on Vietnamese rice production. Her project, undertaken with economics professor Erol Balkan, is supported by a Levitt Center Summer Research grant.

Nora Klemmer ’17 is spending her summer as an intern at Mercury Public Affairs, a global, high-stakes strategy firm offering a variety of capabilities including international affairs, government relations, crisis management, campaign management and more. Her internship is made possible by Summer Internship Funding 2016, managed by the Career Center.

Kacy Hobbis ’17 is a pro at engaging in government-focused community service, but this summer she wanted to take a different path. She’s interning at Youth Service America (YSA), a non-profit that motivates young people to become involved in community service. YSA runs grant programs, training and building toolkits to help youth complete their own service projects. She is receiving support through the Summer Internship Fund 2016, managed by the Career Center.

This summer Abigail Leitschuh ’17, working with Associate Professor of East Asian Languages and Literatures Zhuoyi Wang, is researching the Chinese education system, hoping to discover how similarly unequal education systems may come from two politically and economically disparate countries. Her research is funded by a Levitt Center research grant.

Mackenzie Doherty ’18 is spending this summer as an intern for Generation Teach Summer Academy, a two-week training on classroom control and pre-service teacher responsibilities and duties followed by a four-week program solo-teaching three to four class periods a day of middle school students. The school serves Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and surrounding areas in Boston.

Gabriela Foster ’18 is engaged in a research project that goes beyond mere academics this summer. Foster, who is researching the different political and environmental interest groups that are impacting policy on Higgins Lake in Roscommon, Michigan, has been visiting the lake for her entire life. Her research is being conducted with Associate Professor of Government Peter Cannavo and is sponsored by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center.

While some students are spending their summers working at one internship, Lillia McEnaney ’17 is engaging in five summer job opportunities, including two part-time internships that, while different, complement each other as they both focus on distinct aspects of museology. Her internship is supported by Summer 2016 Internship funding, managed by the Career Center.

The Parkinson’s Foundation is a new organization focused on research, care, education and advocacy.
