A benefit production of Eve Ensler's play "The Vagina Monologues" will be performed at Hamilton College on Friday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn.
This will be the fourth consecutive year that the Obie Award-winning play will be performed on behalf of the V-Day 2003 College Campaign. This production is sponsored by the Sexual Assault Center and the Office of the President. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the door.
V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.
Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant," "The Vagina Monologues," which was first performed off-Broadway by Eve Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women's experiences. Ensler has performed the play throughout the world, and Villard Books/Random House published The Vagina Monologues, which includes a foreword by Gloria Steinem, in 1998.
The proceeds from the V-Day College campaign events are donated directly by the schools to local organizations in their communities that are working to stop violence against women and girls.
