British artist Steven Pippin will speak on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 4:15 p.m in the Red Pit in the Kirner Johnson Building. His presentation will be followed by a reception in Café Opus on campus. Both the presentation and reception are open to the public and free.

Pippin's work intersects the boundaries of photography, sculpture and science. He makes photos by converting washing machines and other artifacts of common use into  "pin-hole" cameras and sculptural machines with interconnected moving parts that flip and rotate like a gyroscope, housing an image or object in a central point.

Pippin has had one-person shows at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City; DAAD Galerie in Berlin; the Tate Gallery in London; Gallery Side 2 in Tokyo and Centre George Pompidou in Paris, among many other venues.

This program is sponsored by the art department and funded by the office of the dean of faculty.
