Byron Miller, a senior majoring in history at Hamilton, was recently selected as one of a small number of participants in the Ralph Bunche Summer Institute at Duke University.  The Institute provides an annual opportunity for promising minority undergraduates to develop their analytical, writing, and quantitative skills.  Miller's 10 week research project, titled "The Souls of White Folk: Black Destiny, Material Interest, and White Racial Resentment," is one of few chosen to be presented at the Annual Meeting of the American Political Science Association, the world's largest professional organization for the study of politics.

Founded in 1903, the APSA is the major professional association for people who study and teach about politics and government.  This year, the Association's 97th Annual Meeting will be held in San Francisco, and will address issues such as notable scientific and theoretical achievements in the political sciences.  Acceptance of student research presentations from the Bunche Institute is exclusive, with only 11 research projects invited to participate.   Miller's study will presented in a poster session at the Annual Meeting.
