David Orr, chair and professor of the environmental studies program at Oberlin College, presents, "Environmental Education in the Age of Terror," on Friday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m., in K-J Red Pit. Book signing and reception to follow. This lecture, sponsored by the Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center, is part of a series focused on issues related to the environment and public policy and social responsibility concerns.
David Orr is a leading environmental educator, scholar, and activist who has written extensively on environmental education and ecological design. He was responsible for the fundraising and design of the Adam Joseph Lewis Center for Environmental Studies at Oberlin College in Ohio.
Orr holds a B.A. from Westminster College, an M.A. from Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in international relations from the University of Pennsylvania. His awards include: a Bioneers Award in 2002, a National Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation in 1993, a Lyndhurst Prize in 1992 and the Benton Box Award in 1995 from Clemson University for his work in environmental education. The Cleveland Plain Dealer described him as "one of those who shape our lives."
