The Hamilton College women's swimming team sent six swimmers to the NCAA Championship Meet this past weekend at Oxford, Ohio and finished 14th out of 78 teams. Five Continentals earned All-American status for their efforts.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team registered a time of 3:34.64, setting a new school record while finishing 7th in the meet. The All-American performers include: junior Meghan Steed (Fairport, NY), sophomore Jennifer Kunz (Hampden, ME), junior Holly Brown (Binghamton, NY), and freshman Katerina Donovan (Amsterdam, NY).

All-American performances were also turned in by the 200-yard freestyle relay team, which finished in 7th place. Kunz, Steed and Donovan teamed up with freshman Brooke Hegarty (Medfield, MA) for a finishing time of 1:38.03.

Donovan was the only Continentals' swimmer with a significant finish in an individual event, turning in a 1:06.7 time in the 100-yard breaststroke for 16th place.

Head Coach Dave Thompson is encouraged by his team's performance. "We took a young group to nationals this year and I think it was a tremendous learning experience," Thompson said. "All of these swimmers are returning next year, so this was very motivating for them. They're already looking forward to improving for next year."
