On Thursday, July 8, Hamilton College hosted a most successful Red Cross Bloodmobile. A total of 57 units of whole blood were donated, which represented 163 percent of the goal of 35! This number included 15 first time donors, which was particularly impressive. Three Hamilton employees were recognized for reaching significant donation amounts.
First-time donors were: Janie Bassett, Carol Bennett, Jay Bonham, Elizabeth Carnie '08, Karen DelMedico, Jane Fitzgerald '07, Daniel Griffith '07, Gregory Hartt '08, Philip Holdredge '08, Jessica Ingalls, Larry Knop, Andrew Steele, Betsy Stewart, Daniel Tomb '08 and Jason Topi.
Members of the Hamilton community recognized by the Red Cross for significant previous donations were: Ashton Nalley, one gallon; Ben Madonia, three gallons; and Sarah Steele, eight gallons.
There was a fierce, but friendly competition for the catered lunch which was promised to participants from the winning division, compliments of Bon Appetit. The Offices of Communications and Development and Administration and Finance finished in a dead heat for first place and participants from both offices will be treated to a joint luncheon.
Many thanks to all the participants as well as to Bon Appetit who provided refreshments and a free meal coupon to first time donors and to the College Store who donated two $25 Barnes and Noble gift certificates. The winners of the gift certificates were Elizabeth Dolan '05 and Greg Hartt '08.
Those unable to participate in last Thursday's bloodmobile are encouraged to participate in the Kirkland Community Bloodmobile scheduled for Thursday, July 22, from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary's School in Clinton.
