The Wall Street Journal – 01/26/07
"Gift of the Week/ Giving to Creativity"
Keith and Wendy Wellin's $10 million gift to the College for the planned arts complex was the focus of the Journal's weekly column on philanthropy. The gift honors Keith Wellin's mother, Ruth, and father, Elmer, an amateur artist.

USA Today – 2/15/07
"USA Today All-American Academic Team"
Senior Mary Beth Day was named a member of the 20-student USA Today All-USA college academic first team. Day is the first Hamilton student to be chosen for this team. Many of her achievements, geoscience and chemistry research presentations and trips, musical performances and community service projects, were included in the newspaper's profile of her.

"Colleges taking another look at value of merit-based aid"
The announcement of Hamilton's decision to discontinue non-need-based financial aid was covered by many media outlets beginning with USA Today.

"Gillette's Diary Donated to College"
Hamilton's Burke Library received the donation of murderer Chester Gillette's diary from his grandniece in a ceremony on March 6. Gillette was convicted of the 1906 murder of his lover Grace Brown in the Adirondacks. Grace Brown's murder inspired Theodore Dreiser's classic, An American Tragedy and the movie A Place in the Sun. The story was covered locally, nationally and internationally by many media outlets beginning with the Associated Press.

"Compounding Interest in Your Investment Committee"
Hamilton trustee and co-chair of the board's investment committeeHenry W. Bedford, II, '76 wrote about the key guidelines that the Hamilton Investment Committee has followed. The College'sendowment returns have consistently been ranked in the top decile of all colleges and universities nationally. He credited this outstanding record to the commitment of experienced alumni members of the board's investment committee.

"Campus Food From Around the Corner."
This article, which included an interview with general manager of Hamilton's food service provider Patrick Raynard, addressed an aspect of the growing sustainability movement that encourages and supports the purchase of local products. The movements goals are to help local economies, provide fresher foods and reduce transportation emissions.

"How Smaller College Endowments Still Reap Big Returns"
Hamilton's $700 million endowment and the alumni investment team that contributes to its success were featured in this Times article. Noting that it is sometimes difficult for smaller college endowments to match the returns of Ivies like Harvard and Yale, the article highlighted Hamilton and its $700 million endowment that returned 21.1 percent last year.

"Lafley elected chairman of alma mater"
The Hamilton Board of Trustees has unanimously elected A.G. Lafley, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of the Procter & Gamble Company, to be the next chairman.

"Friends Wrap Up Big Gift: New School For Cambodian Kids"
The story of how a group of Hamilton employees joined together to raise the necessary funds to build a school in Cambodia was chronicled in this article.
