It's time to sign up for the annual America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk, being held this year on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Utica College. Run as a team, walk with your friends, make this a team challenge! There are many ways to participate, from the 30k run to the 3 mile walk. Last year's team raised $6,454 with 89 participants, and this year's organizers, Marylyn Nassimos and Kelly Walton, are confident Team Hamilton can raise even more money this year.

Everyone who registers will receive Hamilton tee-shirts and pennants,  thanks to the President's Office.

Some Heart Run history:

In 1975 the 5 original runners raised $274.00 for the American Heart Association.  Since then it has grown to the Greatest Heart Run/Walk in the nation.  In the year 2000 this event was the first in the Nation to raise over $1 million dollars

35 year ago there was no CPR to revive heart attack victims, no heart bypass surgery and no coronary care units.

25 years ago there was no balloon angioplasty to open clogged arteries.

15 years ago there were no effective anti-rejection drugs to help heart transplant patients.

10 years ago there was no laser angioplasty or atherectomy to remove plaque from arteries and no coronary stents to keep arteries open.

American's Greatest Heart Run and Walk will begin and end at Utica College on February 22.  There are several different components:
