Second language acquisition research has demonstrated that the language learning is closely linked to explicit instruction, effective interaction, and meaningful language use. This workshop offered an opportunity for language teachers to explore effective classroom interaction through a combination of form-focused instruction and communicative tasks. The workshop featured presentation, group discussion and hands-on practice. Participants were exposed to five basic form-focused interactive techniques in terms of their theoretical basis, teaching objectives, instructional format, and classroom process; second, a task design framework was introduced in terms of task types, procedures, task cycles, language focus, and predicted outcomes; finally, participants were given a chance to design their own communicative tasks using a task cycle of pre-task, main task and post-task options.
