The Kirkland Project for the Study of Gender, Society and Culture will open its 2004 –2005 series, "Class in Context:  Intersections of Class, Race, Gender, Sexuality and Nationality," with a panel discussion on Thursday, Sept. 2, at 4:10 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn. The panel, "Making Class Visible," will feature Hamilton faculty and guests.

Joycelyn Moody (St. Louis University, editor African American Quarterly) will discuss the intersections of class and race; Bonnie Urciuoli (Anthropology) will speak on class as performative and marketable identity;  Vivyan Adair (Women's Studies) will discuss the intersections of class with sexuality, nationality and ableism; and Katherine O'Donnell (Hartwick College, Sociology) will talk about class as an urban vs. a rural phenomenon.  Both the panel and the reception are free and open to the public.  For more information, contact the Kirkland Project at 859-4288.
