Christopher Kostow ’99 was featured on the CBS Early Show this morning as the latest “White Hot Chef.” Kostow, the Chef of The Restaurant at Meadowood  in Napa Valley, has steadily gained acclaim since beginning his career as a chef after graduating from Hamilton. Working and learning from San Diego to Paris, Kostow has honed his skills and is now flourishing in his latest environment at Meadowood Napa Valley.

Kostow has received accolades such as being named one of Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chefs 2009 and Two Michelin Stars. Most recently, he garnered a rare Four Stars from the San Francisco Chronicle, Kostow says his cooking philosophy is simple, “My goal is to be evocative—not provocative." He continued by saying, "Some chefs use technique to make things look unbelievably unique. We put that on its head and say, 'We have all this ability and know-how and tools. Why don't we use technique to make food taste unbelievably good?'"

Kostow was a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity at Hamilton and graduated with a degree in philosophy. To see the recipes Kostow prepared for the CBS Early Show, visit
