Professor of French Roberta Krueger, current director of the Hamilton Junior Year in France, returned to the United States during her students' February break. She presented a keynote address at the 22nd annual meeting of the Illinois Medieval Association titled "Identity Begins at Home: Female Conduct and the Failure of Counsel in Late Medieval France." Her remarks focused on the Ménagier de Paris, a late medieval household manual ostensibly written by an elderly bourgeois husband for his young bride.

During the December break, she served as chair of the delegate assembly organizing committee at the Modern Language Association's meeting in Philadelphia. As DAOC chair, Krueger helped to plan the agenda for the Delegate Assembly, which is attended by some 150 representatives from departments of English and modern languages and literature around the country. This was her sixth consecutive year of service on the delegate assembly.
