The Honorable William Jefferson Clinton, the 42nd president of the United States, will give a free public lecture at Hamilton College on Tuesday evening, November 9 in the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and tickets will not be required. Large groups reservations for the President Clinton lecture are full -- no more reservations are being taken.
Clinton was elected president in 1992 and again in 1996 – the first Democratic president to be awarded a second term in six decades. Under his leadership, the U.S. enjoyed the strongest economy in a generation and the longest economic expansion in U.S. history.
Currently, President Clinton heads the Clinton Foundation (www.clintonfoundation.org), whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. The foundation focuses on increasing global health security, particularly in the fight against HIV/AIDS; economically empowering poor communities; promoting racial, religious and ethnic reconciliation; and encouraging citizen service. The former president also published his memoir, My Life (June 2004), which sold 1.5 million copies in its first month on sale.
For comprehensive, updated information about the lecture, call the Hamilton College Information Line at (315) 859-INFO (4636), or visit the Web site, www.hamilton.edu/greatnames/.
The college will provide shuttle bus service from parking lots at the Clinton Central School (Elm Street and Chenango Avenue lots) and the Skenandoa Golf Club on Norton Avenue. Shuttle service will begin at 5 p.m. and is free. Security officers will be stationed at key intersections and on campus to direct visitors.
President Clinton will be the 13th person to appear as part of the Sacerdote Great Names Series at Hamilton. His address will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. Those needing special parking and seating arrangements because of physical handicaps are asked to call 859-4529. Photography, tape recording and videotaping during the event will not be allowed.
