Hamilton College's Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center is sponsoring a series of lectures this fall focused primarily on the duties and roles of superpowers. The series, titled "The Responsibilities of a Superpower," is free and open to the public.
The next speaker in the series is Andrew Bacevich, a professor of international relations and the former director of the Center for International Relations at Boston University. He will speak on American militarism on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7:30 p.m., in the Events Barn. A former professor at the U.S. Military Academy and Johns Hopkins University, he is the author most recently of The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War. He has written many other books and essays on U.S. foreign policy, diplomatic and military history, and security studies including American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U. S. Diplomacy (2002) and The Imperial Tense: Problems and Prospects of American Empire (2003).
Hamilton's Levitt Center is committed to creating opportunities for students to become involved in public affairs.
