Cheng Li, the William R. Kenan Professor of Government and Brookings Institution senior fellow, was quoted on the front page of The New York Times in an article titled "China Attacks Its Woes With an Old Party Ritual," on Wednesday, March 9. Li discussed the efforts to rebuild grass-roots party organizations that have been falling apart in an article written by the Times Beijing bureau chief. The same article was also printed in the International Herald Tribune.
Agence France Presse released an article titled "China's National People's Congress evolving from rubber stamp" on the same day that also included a quote from Li. He commented on the recent changes within the National People's Congress, emphasizing that they should not be viewed as ground-breaking in nature.
Li will also participate in a live interview later this week on Voice of America radio. Earlier this week he recorded an interview with Radio Deutsche Welle on the Chinese Communist Party's new process by which local leaders are selected.
