James Wang scored 20 points to lead nationally ranked No. 15 Williams College to an 82-61 win against Hamilton College in a NESCAC game at Williams' Chandler Gymnasium on Jan. 22.

Wang was 8 of 13 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range. The Ephs went 10-for-25 (40 percent) from long range as a team. Williams shot 90 percent (18-20) at the free-throw line and committed just five turnovers as the Ephs won their third straight game.

James Klemm chipped in 13 points and Brian Emerson had 11 for Williams. Nate Robertson posted 10 points, four assists and three steals. Michael Mayer grabbed a game-high six rebounds.

Pat Sullivan '12 paced Hamilton with a game-high 26 points. The 6-foot, 7-inch Sullivan was 11 of 15 from the floor. He moved into 13th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,346 points.

Ken Click '13 added 13 points and five boards, and Matt Dean '14 also pulled down five rebounds. Eric Benvenuti '13 came off the bench to score eight points. The Continentals lost their fourth straight game.

Hamilton (11-8 overall, 1-5 NESCAC) led 9-2 early on five points by Click and four by Sullivan. The Continentals still held a 15-11 advantage after a Sullivan layup with 13:25 left in the half.

The Ephs (15-3, 3-2) responded with an 11-0 run and led the rest of the afternoon. Jordan Mickens started the spurt with a 3-pointer and Robertson nailed another. Mayer made a layup and Hayden Rooke-Ley made the score 22-15 with a long-range basket.

Ephraim McDowell '12 hit a three coming out of Hamilton's timeout, but Williams continued to stretch their lead. The Ephs went up by as many as 14 on five consecutive points by Wang that made the score 37-23 with 5:21 to play in the half.

At that point, the Ephs again went cold. The home team did not score for the remainder of the half, and Hamilton managed to cut the lead to nine, 37-28, going into the break. Sullivan scored 12 points on 6 of 7 shooting, while Wang scored 10 for the Ephs.

Hamilton started the second half on the offensive, aggressively attacking Williams and chipping into the home team's lead. Hamilton was within 42-36 just 90 seconds into the final 20 minutes. However, Williams was able to withstand the onslaught behind its free throw shooting. The Ephs went 8-for-8 over the next six minutes and stretched their lead back to 10 with 12:19 to play when Rooke-Ley made a pair from the stripe.

At that point the Ephs took control of the game, as their lead stayed in double digits for the rest of the game despite more stellar play by Sullivan, who had 14 second-half points. Williams put the game out of reach with 5:56 to play, when Benvenuti picked up a flagrant foul following a scrum for a rebound on Hamilton's offensive end.

The Ephs scored three points on the following possession to make the score 72-55. Both offenses were more effective in the second half, as Williams shot 56 percent from the floor and Hamilton shot 48 percent.

Hamilton is off until Tuesday, Jan. 31, when the Continentals host Elmira College in non-conference action.
