The U.S. Naval Academy defeated visiting Hamilton College, 9-0, in a match played in Annapolis, Md., on Jan. 11.
Navy is No. 14 in the most recent College Squash Association rankings, and Hamilton is ranked 21st. The Continentals (3-2 overall) will play two more matches as part of their training trip to the Washington, D.C., area. On Wednesday, Jan. 13, Hamilton plays at George Washington University at 5 p.m., and on Thursday, Jan. 14, the Continentals travel to Lancaster, Pa., to play Franklin & Marshall College at 2 p.m.
Hamilton’s James Hogan ‘11 played a strong first game at the first position, winning 11-9. However, his opponent rallied to win the next three games, 11-1, 11-3 and 11-9. Ronald German ‘13 lost his first game at the eighth position, 11-8, but came back to win the second 11-9. He fell 11-4 in the third game and was edged in the fourth, 11-9.
