The Hamilton College Continentals captured first place in the 800-yard freestyle relay in a meet against Trinity College and Connecticut College at the Trinity Natatorium on Dec. 7.

Results

Hamilton has earned NESCAC all-conference honors for the 800 free relay four of the last five years. The quartet of Reid Swartz '15, Conor Collins '14, Ryan Cassidy '17 and John McBratney '16 posted a pool-record time of 7 minutes, 16.30 seconds.

Swartz finished second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.89 and was third in the 50 back (24.99 seconds) and the 400 individual medley (4:22.30). Collins took third place in the 100 free (49.92 seconds) and the 200 free (1:50.02) and ended up sixth in the 50 free with a time of 23.05 seconds.

Cassidy grabbed third place in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:14.61 and was fifth in the 400 IM in 4:24.54. McBratney was impressive in finishing second in the 500 free with a time of 4:58.02 and came in sixth place out of 23 swimmers in the 100 free with a time of 50.26 seconds. Alex Jones '16 finished fourth in the 100 butterfly (54.93 seconds) and tied for sixth place in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.74 seconds.

Hamilton lost 231-88 against Conn. College and was edged by Trinity, 171-157. The Continentals are off for final exams and winter break until they host Wesleyan University on Saturday, Jan. 4, at 3 p.m.
