
Hamilton College cruised to a 9-0 win over Rensselaer in a non-conference match at Hamilton’s Gray Tennis Courts on April 9.
With the win, Hamilton improved its record to 5-5 overall, while Rensselaer fell to 0-3. At first flight singles, Jon Franzel ‘13 defeated his opponent, 6-1, 6-1. Drew Libin ‘12 breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win at second flight singles. At the third spot, Jordan Petit ‘13 won the opening set 6-3, and then lost 3-6 in the second set. Petit went on to win 10-3 in a third set super tie-breaker.
At fourth flight singles, Greg Kreitzer ‘11 picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Mike Moreno ‘11 swept his opponent at the fifth spot, and Peter Erwin ‘11 earned a win at sixth flight by scores of 6-1, 6-0.
At first flight doubles, the team of Franzel and Libin earned an 8-2 win. At second flight, Moreno and Petit defeated their opponents, 8-3, and Kreitzer and Coby Berman ‘12 teamed up to post an 8-0 rout at the third spot.
Hamilton hosts Colby College for a New England Small College Athletic Conference match on Saturday, April 10.
