Ring That Bell!
Join the college in honoring Donald C. Gingras '50 when he is presented with the Bell Ringer Award at the annual meeting of the Alumni Association on Saturday in the Chapel.

Prior to matriculating at Hamilton, Don served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from June 1940 to January 1946.  While at Hamilton, he majored in education and psychology and was a member of the varsity swimming team. Don worked for the New York State Parole Office in Poughkeepsie and retired in May 1983 as the area director.

In his community, Don is active in the YMCA, United Way, Mended Hearts and the American Heart Association.  He is also active in the local Masters Swimming Program both competitively and recreationally.

Don has served his alma mater as the Class of 1950's class agent and/or reunion gift chair in the Annual Fund for the past 13 years.  Under the leadership of Don and co-chair Bob Bloomer, 1950 won both the Keehn Cup and Kayle Cup in the 1999-2000 Annual Fund year. He is the Alumni Review notes editor and Free Agent for his class and has served as a capital campaign volunteer and a member of the Alumni Council.

The Bell Ringer Award is presented each year in recognition of contributions made to the College, its alumni and the community.

Hamilton Collects American Art
More than 30 alumni and parent collectors of American art join the College as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Emerson Gallery. Together they have loaned 62 works from their private collections for this exhibition. We hope you will join us for a walk-thru of Hamilton Collects American Art, offering a fresh look at the history of American painting from 1738 to 1960. A sampling of the artist represented includes John Smibert, Winslow Homer, Thomas Eakins, Edward Hopper and Mark Rothko.

Buffers Reunion
Founded in 1950, the Buffers remain the only all-male a capella music group at Hamilton. The Buffers Reunion will include a Friday evening dinner, a Saturday night concert and lots of impromptu singing with current and past Buffers.

Kirkland Alumnae Celebrate!
June 7-9, 2002, is a very special Kirkland College commemorative weekend.  A new Kirkland program series named in memory of former Kirkland and Hamilton Trustee Chuck Root '40 will be inaugurated with a keynote address by Samuel Fisher Babbitt. Special awards will be presented to individuals who have continued to carry the Kirkland 'torch' since the combination of the two colleges, and a newly commissioned Kirkland marker will be unveiled.  The celebration will recognize the historic importance of Kirkland College and her very real legacies at Hamilton.  See the commemorative events listed in the reunion schedule for Saturday afternoon, June 8.  All members of the Hamilton family are invited to join Kirkland alumnae and former Kirkland faculty and staff for this special reunion program. For updates: http://www.hamilton.edu/alumni/reunions/kirkland

Fun For The Whole Family
In recent years, many children have shared the weekend with their moms and dads, thanks to Hamilton's child care program.

A structured program for infants and children under 12 is housed in the Clinton Child Care Center in Root Residence Hall. Child care will be available from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday evening, so that parents may enjoy adult conversation with their classmates during their class dinners. Children will be supervised and entertained by a team of students and trained teens.  Preregistration for child care is required.  Walk-ins cannot be
accommodated.  For more information, call 1-866-729-0314.

Older children are invited to enjoy the swimming pool and other athletic facilities, the computer center and large-screen video games.  So share your alma mater with the whole family!

Hit The Links
Challenge your classmates at the Annual Winton Tolles Golf Invitational, being held at Stonebridge Country Club, Higby Road New Hartford, on Friday, June 7.  The tournament format is a scramble, and golfers of all skill levels are welcome.  Shotgun start is at 9 a.m.  Cost of the event is $75, which includes greens fee, cart, simple lunch and prizes. A portion of each registration fee will help support Hamilton athletic programs dedicated to promoting gender equity.  Entries are due May 30, and the field is limited to the first 100 registered players.   To reserve your spot, send a check payable to "Hamilton Athletics," along with your name, class year, handicap or usual score, and the names of those with whom you would like to  play to: Julie Diehl, Women's Basketball and Volleyball Coach, Hamilton College, 198 College Hill Road, Clinton, NY 13323, or e-mail jdiehl@hamilton.edu.

Make Plans To Stay
Why leave campus at the end of a long day?  Join your friends and live the nostalgia! You are invited to return to the residence halls for a fun-filled (and economical) weekend. Keep in mind that there are still some bunk beds, shared bathrooms and the possibility of warm weather without air-conditioning. Whenever possible, classes are housed together.

If you prefer off-campus accommodations, contact BTI, the College travel agency, at 1-800-472-7447 for assistance with hotel/motel reservations, as well as airline and/or car rental reservations. Off-campus accommodations are limited, so plan early.

Making an Extra Effort for Reunions
With the efforts of Reunion Gift and Planning committees, Reunions 2002 promises to be an incredible weekend

Gift chairs are working hard to encourage your participation in the
reunion gift effort. In letters, phone calls and e-mails, the reunion committees seek to convince every class member to join them on campus for Reunions 2002 and as donors to the reunion gift effort.  There are challenges to be met, lofty goals to reach and records to be broken.

You can make your reunion gift by logging onto Hamilton's secure on-line site https://www.hamilton.edu/makeagift, or by calling 1-866-729-0315 and leaving your gift information on the secure voice-mail system. Every gift counts toward your class' goals, so please don't delay.
