Middlebury College blanked visiting Hamilton College 8-0 in six innings in a New England Small College Athletic Conference West Division game on April 9.
 
With the win, the Panthers improved to 12-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Continentals dropped to 2-12, 0-4 in NESCAC West action. The teams return on Saturday for a doubleheader. The first game starts at noon.
 
Mandy Hyne ‘11 suffered the loss for Hamilton, allowing eight earned runs over 5.1 innings of work. Hyne (1-5) recorded two strikeouts. Leigh Sherrow '11, Liz Farrington ’10 and Amanda Nardi ‘11 each finished with one single.
 
Middlebury owned a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning, when the Panthers plated three runs on four hits for a 4-0 advantage. A triple to right center  scored a runner from second. A single up the middle knocked in another run and a two-out RBI double to the base of the fence in center completed the scoring.
 
In the fourth, Middlebury added another run that was driven in by a triple. The Panthers ended the game in the sixth with three more runs during a two-out rally. With runners on second and third, a wild pitch on ball four allowed a runner to score. The final runs scored on a double to left field that drove in runners from second and third.
