
Hamilton College shut out St. Olaf College 2-0 before Ohio Wesleyan University turned the tables on the Continentals with a 9-0 win in five innings in non-conference games played at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Fla., on March 17.
Hamilton (3-5 overall) has games remaining in Florida against Hendrix and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Sunday, March 18. The Continentals take the next nine days off before they play their first contests up north.
Kelly Leonard '15 hurled a two-hitter and struck out 10 in seven innings against St. Olaf (2-1). The shutout is Hamilton's first since April 12, 2011. Sam Miller '14 singled, doubled and drove in both runs in the top of the fifth inning. Jenn Rougeux '14 went 3-for-4 and Ashley Perritt '14 collected two hits.
Ohio Wesleyan (5-5) scored in every inning until the game was called due to the eight-run mercy rule after the Continentals batted in the top of the fifth. Hamilton committed five errors. Melissa Kaknis '13 doubled and Amy Appel '13 added a single for the Continentals' two hits. Monique St. Jarre '15 took the loss.
