The Hamilton College Summer Hockey camp began its 21st year on June 26, with 108 boys from across the nation meeting at Sage Rink, eager to spend two weeks of their summer on the ice.
"The athletes who are coming here are really looking to improve their game, and there's also bonding and chemistry with the student athletes," said Hamilton Hockey Coach Phil Grady and founder of the summer camp. "This is an opportunity, like any other camp, to mix with many different people from different areas."
For four weeks during the summer, Grady and his staff of 35—including college hockey coaches, current and former Hamilton players, and professional players—coach boys, ages 10-14, and girls, ages 10-18, on skills, technique and strategy in two separate group sessions.
The current Hamilton hockey players who are helping out at the camp are Richard Reichenbach '06, Nathaniel Miller '08, Arthur Preiss '08, Andrew Neumann '08, and Zoe Baldwin '05.
The girls hockey camp, which was started four years after the boys' camp, will begin on July 10.
